Import your Anki decks in a minute, and keep every card
To import an Anki deck into Cogni, export it from Anki as an .apkg file, open the file in the Cogni app on iPhone or Android, and study. Decks, subdecks, note types, cloze cards, images and audio come across intact, FSRS schedules the reviews, and the deck syncs to the web app. Import is part of the free plan.

Why people move their decks
Anki's scheduling is excellent, and nothing is lost by leaving it: Cogni runs the same FSRS algorithm. What you gain is everything around it: a phone experience that does not need a desktop, notes next to your cards, AI that writes new cards from your PDFs, text-to-speech and real-time sync. The full comparison is on the Anki alternative page.
What comes across
- Decks and the full Parent::Child subdeck hierarchy
- All notes and cards, including cloze deletions
- Note types with their fields and templates
- Images and audio referenced in your cards
What starts fresh
Anki's review log stays in Anki, so imported cards start as new and FSRS builds their schedule from your first ratings. Cards you already know well leave the queue within a session or two; cards you never really learned come back tomorrow, which is what you want.
Packages exported from recent Anki versions without "Support older Anki versions" use a format Cogni does not read yet: re-export with the option ticked. Desktop add-ons and card scripts do not transfer.
After the import
The deck syncs to the web app automatically, so you can review on a laptop and continue on the phone. Add new cards to the same deck from your notes or with AI, turn on text-to-speech for language decks, and keep studying with spaced repetition without ever opening a desktop app again.
